Is this a good set up to be used only for outside time for 2 sows. (this is a question i want to ask as there are differing opinions) Screenshot_20210405_101308_com.facebook.katana_edit_1350809427742318.webp

I don't see why not if it's just for outside time? It provides outside access and shelter and looks to be a good size.

Ok. Maybe I'm too used to boars. As i said it was too small. The grass area will be less than 100cm as the ramp takes a large part up. And i was essentially shot down in flames by numerous other people on the group too. So i just wanted to see if i was wrong.

So this isn’t something you were looking at getting? Somebody else said they were and you thought it was too small and said so on another group (And they took offence to you saying it’s too small?)

Yip. Pretty much. However it wasnt the original poster it was numerous other people. So i left the group.

I’m with you on it @Julie M!

The run area converts to only 6sq ft (less than that by the time the space the ramp uses is taken off), the house to 4sq ft and of course areas connected by ramps aren’t included anyway , so it doesn’t meet requirements in my opinion

Good to get different opinions in a sane group. I felt really low all day yesterday after the constant bashing even when I left the group the comments were still coming through. I thought maybe i am wrong as ive only ever had boars. But then i thought how are they even supposed to run etc in there less than a 100cm size cage.

I agree with you! from a first glance and the picture it looks huge but reading the dimensions it’s not very big at all!

 Try not to let it get to you. Youve given them the correct advice in saying it’s too small, if they’re not prepared to research for themselves, then there isn’t a lot more you can do.

Thanks. Its hard when people tell you you're insane.

I hadn't looked clearly at the dimensions ( not enough tea drunk yet!) I would agree it's not big enough for a permanent outdoor house, but just for outside time? Doesn't the combined sheltered and outside meet minimum size? I find it difficult to judge just from a picture.

My thought was that there wasn't much point putting them out in it as the grass area is tiny.

I think that's a fair point, it's not something I would consider as I think there are much better options out there, but had I not found this forum I may not know that but at first glance it looks adequate, equally I would take advice onboard and do further research.
I left a dog group for similar reasons (not hutch size! 😉) People are just unreasonable and social media makes them think they are invincible/important. The whole point of these groups is to share knowledge and grow understanding.
This is the only online group I am part of because I think everyone here shares their experiences and knowledge in a helpful way, I have learnt a lot over the last two years and am still learning.

That’s the thing isn’t it, the overall measurements look good and on face value we‘d think thats a good size for two boars so for two sows its generous. If the actual grass space was twice the size - either in manufacturing or if a purchaser could make an extension on it - then it would be nice (As long as no piggy was ever shut in the house area as that is tiny).

It’s also probably quite an expensive way to provide outside time - it looks very elaborate for not much. There are more cost effective ways to give them much more room.

I’m sorry you were left feeling bad. But please don’t, the issue is with them rather than you. Sometimes people don’t want to be given advice, even when they ask a question. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink 🤷🏾‍♀️

To me the enclosed house isn’t big enough if they were both to be in there - sows included.

Big hugs @Julie M, people can be so rude online, why I stick to here! I’m with you too, that looks too small and not much point with such a space grass space x

It's really deceiving isn't it? Looking at the picture you think that it's really big but then reading the dimensions you realise how small it actually is. A bit like those people who order a chair on amazon and it turns out to be dolls house furniture.........

My husband is like that. Orders stuff and usually its either very small or very big. 🤔🤣

I have to say I rather like it for an outside summertime (fine weather) run. I actually think it’s a chicken house as the box on the side is for laying eggs in
I have a bunny ark which was bought as a surprise present for Bill and Ted by my OH when they were tiny, it’s great as part of a run during the daytime but I wouldn’t have ever kept them in it overnight as the actual living area is quite small, the ramp had to be adjusted and we needed to put a door on the living area so we could catch the monkeys.

Its not even as big as yours going by the measurements

My bunny ark is 120 x 65 cm, not big but manageable enough to move around the lawn. The piggies love it and have somewhere to hide and relax if they want to during the day, but I would never have bought it 😄 I bet the living area is about 60 cm square too
