Morning, I'm new here and looking for help and support on what to do.

Our beloved guinea piggie ( Cindy) passed away this morning. She was 6 years old and her and her sister have been such a big part of mine and the kids lifes.

I guess I'm just looking for help on what to do next. We looked at cremation, we also looking at plant pot burial as the kids would like somewhere to go and remember her.

I don't really know what I'm doing in turns on plant pot burial of anyone has advice what to do and so it's done correctly.

Thank you again 💜💜

Hi I'm so sorry for the loos of your beloved girl Cindy 😥
I have in the past buried our guineas ( using guinea sized coffin type boxes with blankets etc inside 😥) and planted plants over the top with solar lights etc so that we have a place to go to visit but I do know people who have used pots to actual put them in and I think as long as the pot is of a sufficient size and depth (to avoid any predators) you can use them I think either is a lovely idea. We hang wind chimes etc or flameless candles for birthdays and memorial days too 🌈

I’m sorry for your loss.

I put mine in a box and then put the box in a pot and plant flowers on top.
What I actually do is use a very large pot so that both piggies in the bonded pair can go into the same pot side by side when the time comes. I then grow annual flowers in the pot.
Once the second of the pair has passed I then use a perennial plant rather than annual as that pot then won’t be disturbed again.
Ive bought some little engraved slates from Etsy with their name and dates on.

I’m so sorry Cindy has had her call to the rainbow bridge. Sending you and your family hugs. ❤️

I'm sorry to see you have lost Cindy. Sending you hugs.
I use a large heavy planter/patio pot, wrap the piggy in a piece of cotton material, put soil into about a third of the pot, place piggy in and fill pot. I put a plant in the pot if I have one handy or sprinkle the top of the pot with seeds. I use a slate memorial for the piggy purchased either from ebay or etsy.

Oh darling, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending lots of hugs your way.
As far as piggy burial goes - I've opted for cremation and burial in the garden. I like to keep all the pigges in the same area, and plant some kind of perennial on top of them as a living reminder.

So sorry for your loss.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve.

I have buried mine in a pot but more often in the garden where I can plant flowers or shrubs.
A heavy stone or slate over the top of the grave initially will stop any local predators

Welcome to the forum

I'm sorry for your loss.i get my piggies cremated,as ive had over 50 piggies in ten years.my garden would not cope with that many.its a very personal decision how you like to do things.no way is right or wrong.I feel i give them all a good life and care.
takecare of yourself.

I am very sorry Cindy had to leave you but she would have known how much she was loved. Sending hugs xx
This is my personal choice - there is a wonderful local per cremation near me and I take mine to her and have their ashes placed in an urn that looks just like a guinea pig. Each group are placed in the same urn so they can still all be together and their ashes will be scattered with mine when I go.
Rest peacefully Cindy 🌈

Hi

I am ever so sorry for your loss.

Myself, I am burying my many own piggies in large planters. For the burial, I wrap them in kitchenpaper with some seasonal flowers or greenery from the garden. I use acidic (ericaceous) compost for faster decomposition to bed them on and cover them with. And old wooden decking cut-offs and bricks to cover the top and keep off any visiting foxes but for single burials you can plant a perennial like a patio rose on top. I usually wait until the planter is full and then cover the pot in something shallow-rooted. Once it has sunk, I then switch to a small shrub or other larger perennial for a permanent solution.

This was my send off for Manon in June with a bloom from nearly each of my dozen rose bushes in my garden.

And a single winter burial where a patio rose had to wait until Spring. 1757077534139.webp

I hope that this helps you?
