My budgie Edmund passed this afternoon, he was singing and playing only this morning. Very much loved by everyone who knew him

I'm going to elaborate on him as I didn't realize I was so brief (still in shock).

I rescued Edmund from my college in October 2012, he had been literally ripped up by other birds and was being kept in a plastic tank as they had no idea what to do with him. I offered to take him and he came home with me that day.

He had no feathers on his left wing and the rest were shabby, he was terrified of people and thin. He soon started to sing with his very distinctive chirps and learnt what playing was! He chatted to my other birds all day and became adventurous, managing to climb onto his swing and other perches (his feathers were permanently damaged and never grew back enough to allow flight - we suspect he had French Moult) and try new foods. He even became quite tame and last week he sat happily on my finger for the first time. He was so sweet, his death has been a horrible shock and I'm devastated.

My other budgies seem to realise that no one is replying to their singing, they will miss him too I'm sure :(

Thank you for the condolences thus far, I'm going to miss him so much

He sounds like he had a tough start in life.:bye:

Oh, so sorry to hear this, my budgie passed to the rainbow bridge just before Christmas and I still miss his greeting whenever I entered the house or talked to him. The house still seems very quiet without him. RIP little Edmund x

I am so sorry for your loss. You gave him a wonderful life and he will have finally found happiness living with you.

I am very sorry for your loss! Edmund was a very lucky budgie and has obviously given you lots of joy back!

Heres a quick photo of him from about 2 weeks back, this is the healthiest he ever looked

He really did make me happy, seeing how much better he was and how much his life had improved. Thank you all, I'm getting over the shock of it a bit now, just feel very very sad and lost without his happy chirps

RIP Edmund

Thank you all, he's been buried now, going to spoil my other birds rotten to make up for them losing a friend. Feeling more positive, he had a good time with me while it lasted :)

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss. I know exactly how you feel as I lost my Mousey yesterday. R.I.P. Edmund. xx
