Dianet
Junior Guinea Pig
Such a sad day today as I had to say goodbye to my beautiful girl Ebony after 6.5 years. She'd been unwell for over a week and I knew her time was coming to an end but it doesn't make it any easier. After discussing her chances with the vet, I decided against operating on her as she'd lost quite a bit of weight over a short period of time and she was so old. She was still eating her veg and salad fine and although not eating her pellets, she was taking rescue remedy readily from a spoon. The vet had prescribed Rhumocam, which she loved, and said just to bring her back when I thought the time was right to let her go. Unfortunately, that time came today as when I got her out this morning she just seemed to have given up. She wouldn't even take her painkiller and her little body kept stiffening every so often as I held her.
This is the 3rd 'fur baby' I've lost this year along with my cockatiel of 23 years and it just feel so unfair. I'm giving Ebonys sister Ruby extra cuddles at the moment and hopefully she will cope ok as I feel shes too old to bond with anyone else. I do also have two other younger piggies in the same room so she can sense and hear them.
RIP Ebony and popcorn free over Rainbow Bridge. x
