Such a sad day today as I had to say goodbye to my beautiful girl Ebony after 6.5 years. She'd been unwell for over a week and I knew her time was coming to an end but it doesn't make it any easier. After discussing her chances with the vet, I decided against operating on her as she'd lost quite a bit of weight over a short period of time and she was so old. She was still eating her veg and salad fine and although not eating her pellets, she was taking rescue remedy readily from a spoon. The vet had prescribed Rhumocam, which she loved, and said just to bring her back when I thought the time was right to let her go. Unfortunately, that time came today as when I got her out this morning she just seemed to have given up. She wouldn't even take her painkiller and her little body kept stiffening every so often as I held her.
This is the 3rd 'fur baby' I've lost this year along with my cockatiel of 23 years and it just feel so unfair. I'm giving Ebonys sister Ruby extra cuddles at the moment and hopefully she will cope ok as I feel shes too old to bond with anyone else. I do also have two other younger piggies in the same room so she can sense and hear them.
RIP Ebony and popcorn free over Rainbow Bridge. x

So sorry for your losses. What a sweet little piggie. Sleep tight Ebony. Well done for having her until that age, although doesn't make it any easier I know. My boy was 5 plus xx♥️

What a lovely little piggie Ebony was, so sorry that you have lost her. Hugs to you, what a year you have had x
Sleep tight little Ebony x

I’m so sorry you had to make that decision. It shows what a bond you had with her that you knew when she was telling you it was her time and you loved her enough to let her go. Hugs to you. Popcorn free lovely lady piggy.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful piggy, they obviously had such an amazing life So full of love with you. Massive hugs x

Sleep well pretty one

RIP Ebony

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I put the little towel that Ebony was wrapped in, in the sleeping area with a guinea pig teddy of my daughters and when I got up this morning Ruby was cuddled up to it. So cute, but made me cry all over again 😥. I'm making a fuss of her and getting lots of piggy kisses in return. Ruby really is an affectionate and vocal little girl so hoping she doesn't get too depressed. x

So sorry to hear your loss, but you know your ruby sounds like a very happy friendly girl, please do not rule out getting her another friend.I think piggies can be bonded at any age as long as they have a nice temperament.
You never know she may surprise you and it might be just what she needs right now.
Sending hugs🤗🤗🤗🤗💖💕

Thanks Farquhar, lost Ruby too a few weeks later. Still miss them lots but helps to think of them all back together with their other sisters Amber who died too young (only 2)IMG-20190916-WA0000.webp x

So sorry to hear you lost Ruby also, sounds like she couldn't live without Ebony ❤️

I’m so sorry for your losses - they have each other up in rainbow 🌈 heaven. They are such sweet little animals it’s so sad they don’t live longer & go down hill quite quickly once they get sick.
