Ginger Pig was special, he and Dora were our first piggies and the reason we found this forum. He was a little scrap of a piggy when he arrived but quickly grew into his rather wrinkly skin. He loved having his little ginger nose scratched and would stand in the middle of the cage with his nose up in the air waiting for one of us to give him some attention.
Dora was the love of his life and he very rarely slept anywhere but next to her. Sometimes she would get annoyed with him pushing his way into her favorite bed and he would sleep with just the top half of his body in the bed and his legs sticking out.
During lockdown Ginger Pig became a star of my work Teams calls as everyone wanted to meet the cute naked guinea pig.
He was such a happy piggy, who loved a cuddle and had the biggest appetite. Even when he was very poorly he was still wheeking for food.
Ginger Pig's health started to deteriorate last year. He had a fast growing tumor removed from his back and was diagnosed with arthritis in his knees and spine. Sadly a few weeks ago we discovered his heart was failing. Not know how long we had left with him, we made sure he had all his favorite foods and lots of cuddles. Sadly his health issues caught up with him and he lost the use of his back legs. Even though he still wanted to eat, the light had gone from his eyes and we made the heartbreaking decision to help Ginger Pig cross the rainbow bridge.
We have lots of lovely memories of Ginger Pig and will make sure Dora is happy until it is her time to join him.

Dora and Ginger when they joined us as babies.

Ginger and his beloved Dora.
