Little did I know what I had let myself in for when I went over to Cavy Corner to adopt a sow as a companion to my bereaved piggy. Sitting looking at me were 2 beautiful girls who had been surrendered together - Bridget and Mabel
. I fell in love with them instantly and so they came home with me.
Bridget was always a small piggy, her weight fluctuating between 700g and 800g but he was a happy little soul and although she had some medical issues from time to time she always took her meds like a trouper, never turning her head away.
Bridget, I will miss your happy little face always ready to greet me and hoping for a treat every time I walked in the room.
Last weekend I knew she wasn't feeling well but she managed to always be in the front if food was anywhere near. I loved lap time when she would eagerly munch on salad snacks and let me stroke her back afterwards. I managed to get her an appointment with a vet who said she needed an emergency op so the next day she was booked in for it. That evening I saw Mabel licking her ears (I think she must have sensed Bridget was growing her wings). Next morning I kissed her, told her how much I loved her and told her to be brave. She didn't make it. I guess she got the call from the Bridge and answered it.
Mabel is very quiet and grieving and I am devastated but her ashes will be back with me soon and her memories will be imprinted on my heart.
Run pain free at the bridge my beautiful Bridget until we meet again xx
