This evening we sat with our gorgeous, old boy Thor and said good bye. He was almost 6 years old
He had been up and down with his health over the last couple of months. He really enjoyed the last couple of weeks and was bouncing around again, gaining weight and enjoying his time with us.
This evening he took a turn for the worst. He was eating and fine this morning, but this evening he slipped away peacefully; tucked up in his blankets and hay, with us sat with him in his cage. I’m glad we had a little time to say good bye
Thor started our guinea pig collection nearly 6 years ago. He and his brother Loki being the first pigs we took in. I had had guinea pigs many years ago, but these were our first pets as a couple. My husband chose him and loved him ever since. He had such a soft spot for Thor
Dan (husband) is devastated as he and Thor shared a special bond. I feel it’s like the end of an era, as Thor was the last of our original pigs (the marvel squad).
Thor was such an easy pig to bond and had many friends over the years. He had lived with Loki, Odin (he helped Odin to get better and really looked after him when he was poorly), Stark, Banner, Merlin and more recently with Rufus and Boris too
He was such a character. Would sometimes wake me up as soon as the sun came up, with his wheeking!
We are devastated and will miss him so much. We are taking comfort knowing that he’s had such a wonderful life with us
I’m sure he’s up there catching up with Loki and the others
