Sadly and very suddenly our Himi gorgeous Ouzo became ill overnight and was rushed to the vets this morning where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. He was treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drug but sadly passed away at home. It has come as a huge shock to us as he was his usual self last night running around excitedly waiting for his supper.

His wifepig Morgan is spending some time with Ouzo so she can say her goodbyes. Ouzo came to us from Hutches Rescue along with Morgan who Joanne had bonded for us. Their bond was one of the strongest we have seen and we hope that Morgan is able to recover from the loss of her husboar. We can't be sure but we think Ouzo was around 6 years old. He was originally rescued by Joanne at Hutches when she discovered him being used as a stud boar by a very unreputable breeder who was subsequently prosecuted by the SSPCA. He gave us some much happiness and his squeaky door wheeking was memorable. Just last Saturday when he was having his weekly health check he reminded us numerous times not to touch him as he shrieks like a baby like he always did and we're sure the neighbours must have thought we were murdering him.

We could go on for hours talking about him but we just need to say sleep tight Ouzo and enjoy munching the green spaghetti with Wallace, Gromit, Tim, Sam, Toby and Cooper. Enjoy yourself boys.

I am ever so sorry for your loss! Ouzo was a stunning boy, and he lived to a very good age.

Walking/atypical pneumonia is often such a nasty killer because it develops very quickly, often in just hours and without any warning symptoms, so by the time you notice, it is often too late for the antibiotics to kick in. It is usually a very frightening experience when you come up against it. :(

My thoughts are with you and Morgan!

:( Oh no! I am very sorry to hear this! Poor little boy. This beautiful fluffy cloud has gone up to live with all the other fluffy clouds, over the Bridge. Popcorn free, Ouzo. :bye:

Oh gosh! That's dreadful, I'm so sorry. So sudden and such a shock.
It's stressful too that Morgan faces the hurdle of coping with him passing away. I hope she rallies round.
Awful news. Huge hugs to you
Be free sweet Ouzo x

So sorry for your loss he was a beautiful boy!

Thinking of you all xx

I'm sorry for your loss Lisaali. It's truly awful when they leave just like that.
Sending you big hugs.

Popcorn free Ouzo x Such a gorgeous boy.

Oh I'm so shocked and sorry that you've lost Ouzo like that. It makes me realise how lucky we were to save Mr Ted when he was struck down with the same type of acute onset pneumonia as Ouzo. Poor Morgan. I hope she says her goodbyes and kisses him on his way to the Bridge. Hugs to you both. Popcorn free Ouzo you handsome man pig xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience last month and lost my girl Lily suddenly to pneumonia. It was heartbreaking :(

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you both are OK and I hope Morgan is OK.

Popcorn free Ouzo.

Really sorry Lisa & Ali. Such an unexpected loss of your beautiful boy, I do hope Morgan is okay. When things like this happen out of nowhere it really knocks you for six. Ouzo had a great life with you both and his wifeypig, he will be sadly missed by you all but remain part of your lives forever. Massive hugs

Sleep well handsome lad

RIP Ouzo
