Our little albino piggie, Rosie, was put to sleep after a short illness on Friday evening at the age of two and a half.

She hadn't been 'right' since Thursday and she went to our local vet who agreed but, not being an expert in piggies, couldn't say why. She was lethargic, not eating much and breathing looked laboured - but no signs of heart or lung problems. After no change, we got a recommendation for the Cat and Rabbit Clinic in Northampton and the lovely Kim (who I wasn't able to meet because Covid!) saw her that evening. After a thorough exam she said it was very likely that she had a tumour(s) in her chest as her lymph nodes were up all over her little body. We agreed the kindest option was to out her to sleep.

She'll be hugely missed by my daughter, whose piggy she was, and the rest of the family. She was a character..always squeaking and always mischievous and often stealing food from her cagemate who is too docile for her own good! Sleep tight, little one.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You were called to make the toughest decision any of us has to make. Sleep tight Rosie x

So sorry for your loss.
Be gentle with yourselves as you grieve.
There is a bereavement thread which has some good guidance for helping children grieve.
