On Saturday night Sherbert passed away after suffering from a URI. When I went in to give her her meds on the Saturday evening she was so weak she couldn't lift her head to eat the veggies I'd given her. So I scooped her up and wrapped her in a blanket and me and my boyfriend stayed with her and gave her lots of cuddles until she slipped away. Since I don't have a garden where I live I laid Sherbert to rest in my sister's house with the ashes of her mother Sookie who passed away a few years ago.
I have had Sherbert nearly her entire life, she was born at my sisters house to a guinea pig my sister was fostering. Since my sister didn't have the room for any more pigs both mummy pig, Sookie and baby Sherbert came to live with me and my lone pig Pumpkin. When she was a baby she managed to squeeze out of her cage in between the gaps of the bars and went on an adventure round my room. She loved antagonising Pumpkin, which earned her many nibbles on the ears, and then jumping on top on a hidey house while Pumpkin rumble strutted around the base of the house, unable to get to Sherbs. Right up until Sookie passed away Sherbert would hide under her whenever she was scared even though she grew bigger than Sookie. She was an unbelievable drama queen, when she had to get some injections at the vets she squeaked so loudly it sounded like they were torturing her, she also had to be sedated just so the vets could get a skin sample of a fungal infection because she was causing such a fuss. I have 6 1/2 years of amazing memories and funny stories of my gorgeous girl but I don't think they'd all fit on this thread. I just can't come to terms with the fact that I won't see her come running up to the door of her cage again or hear her very distinctive squeak asking for more food, it now seems very quiet in the piggy room and I'm sure her piggy friends Rio and Harvey are missing her as much as I am. I just hope Pumpkin and Sookie are taking good care of her over the rainbow bridge.

Back when she was just a few days old. (She's the one in the food bowl.)

This is the last picture I took of her, enjoying a nice snack with Rio and Harvey.

What a cheeky character! I'm sorry to read that she's passed away, and she had a long and full life, and knew nothing but the good things, just how life should be. It sounds like her passing was gentle.
Huge hugs to you. Be free and cause mischief at the Bridge Sherbert

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful little girl. Hugs

Sleep well little one

RIP Sherbert
