I know I don't come on here anymore but I thought I'd let those know who knew my lovely Sky

My beautiful little Sky got his wings this afternoon.

I noticed yesterday quite a large lump under his chin - completely out the blue, I'd never felt it before.

He was still eating and drinking normally.

I came home at lunch though and noticed he had finished his carrot or cucumber - I also noticed I could hear his breathing a little.

I got him to the vets and left him there as they were going to see what it was - I was 80% sure it wouldn't be good news.

Anyways they rang me at work about 2 hours later and said they'd given him heavy painkillers and given the area a poke - sadly it wasn't an abscess but a massive cyst.

I didn't want him to have surgery and they didn't really want him to have it either. I asked them over the phone to put him to sleep whilst he was out of it - I didn't get to say goodbye to him but I didn't want him to wait for me to finish work.

I had him for over three years and he truly was a special pig - won't be the same without him.

I'm just glad he got to go outside yesterday with the sun on his back, munching on grass...

:crying:

I've had guinea pigs for 15 years and it never gets easier!

Have fun over the bridge with all your many other friends

I'm so very sorry for your loss, Sky was stunning. It was a very hard decision you made, but it was for the best, that is the greatest act of love a piggy owner can do.

Popcorn free Sky...
xx

Oh Hannah, I am so sorry. Your piggies have always been favourites of mine ever since I joined the forum. Sky was such a beautiful special little boy I am really sorry. You made the kindest bravest decision for him. Huge hugs and love x

RIP Sky

Thank you so much everyone for the support - it was a very difficult decision but the vet on the phone said it was a tumour so I figured it was best he went to sleep.
I am picking him up tonight after work - will be sad times again.

I know I haven't been on the forum much but I will try to post more every now and again.

:( So sorry to hear this sad news. I miss seeing your fuzzpigs on the forums.
RIP Sky.

I'm only down to one fuzzy pig now :( and thats Loki!
I will perhaps do a update thread tonight about me and the pets and try to get some up to date photos soon.

Huge hugs, it is so hard and horrible to lose them. Sky had a wonderful life with his friends and Mum, you were very brave to let him go. x

The forum is always here for you Hannah whenever you drop by, life takes us all in different directions at times so don't feel any pressure, take care x

Thanks. I do feel sad for not being there to say goodbye, I didn't say goodbye when I left him with the vets as didn't want to get too upset. They'd asked over the phone if I had said goodbye, I said I hadn't but wanted them to put him down whilst he was out of it as he wouldn't have known I'd be there :(

No pressure at all - just perhaps thought its about time I gave an update on my life. Not that much has changed :).

I will be donating Sky's cage to Wood Green Animal Shelter as I don't plan to use the cage as I don't plan to fill it.

It was a tough call to make, but you made what was best for little Sky Hannah, not what was right for you, that was very brave of you and that is what we all hope we can do for our little ones when the time comes to make these hard decisions. Have a huge hug.

Look forward to your update with pigtures of course.

That is a lovely thing to do with his cage, we donated Megs to Walsall when she left earlier this year, it is comforting to know it will be made use of isn't it. x

I was thinking of Megan the other day - she was a pretty little pig.

Thanks for the hug :) x
