Unfortunately last night, our boy Steve lost his fight. He went in for dental surgery last Monday (6th June) and never recovered from the Anaesthetic. This was his third dental surgery and the two previous times he’s pulled through fine. We had the previous dental work checked by Simon at the Cat and Rabbit Clinic and he said that our vets had done a good job so we were confident he’d get through a third procedure.

He started to pick up on Wednesday/Thursday last week but went rapidly downhill on Sunday and refused to eat and wasn’t even swallowing his syringe feed. He struggled with Gut Stasis since Monday and despite two vet visits to administer stimulants he just couldn’t pull through.

Ironically, he chose to pass right by his food bowls where he spent much of time whilst he was in good health. He was such a lovely pig and provided us with endless entertainments with his mischief and his constant hunt for treats. He leaves behind his brother Gregory, and our dog Taco who he got along with very well - they would often say hello to each other by touching noses when in the same room. Sleep tight little man, you will be sorely missed.

Well done for taking such good care of him. Anaesthetic always carries a small risk and your boy just got unlucky. It's clear he was very well loved he must have been a special pig xx

So sorry to hear of your loss.
Thinking of you at this difficult time.

Sleep tight Steve 🌈 💕

So sorry you lost Steve. It's very hard when you lose a piggy they leave a big hole in your heart. Steve is in him prime once more at the Rainbow Bridge and is out of pain Piggies live life for today and you gave Steve lots of happy todays. He went to the Bridge on his own terms in his own house surrounded by love and friends. Sleep well Steve.

Sleep tight little Steve 🌈

I’m so sorry, that’s the worst kind of terrible luck and I know it hurts badly when you’re doing your very best for a pig but still it doesn’t work out, it’s very hard to take. He sounds like a really great pig who brought so much joy, and I love those photos - imagine the spirit of a little furry potato to touch noses with a dog so confidently 😍
