Luna I love you.

I hope I made your 5 years of life happy and contented.

I hope you know that I did all that I could to save you. I couldn't put you through anymore.

I will miss you so much.

You leave behind your friend Tonks who will miss you dearly as well.

Until we meet again one day, pop corn plenty my sweet little girl ❤️

I am very sorry for your loss!

Luna has lived a good life span and is much loved and much missed.
There is nothing wrong with your decision of putting her quality of life first; it is the greatest, most loving but also most heart-breaking gift we can make a beloved one.
Especially when it was not a straight forward emergency and more a weighing up of factors, then your normal feelings of guilt after the loss of a beloved pet will be inevitably stronger - they are only a reflection of your love and good care.

I am so sorry for your loss, Luna obviously had a life full of love with you. Massive hugs to you at this sad time.

Sleep well little one

RIP Luna

So sorry to hear your heart breaking loss. Big hug. R.I.P. lune.

So sorry for your loss.
5 is a good age and she was a well loved piggy.
Letting go is a hard decision but one made out of love.
Look after yourself and take time to grieve for your lovely Luna

So sorry for your loss. You did the best for your little one. 5 is a good age.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You’ve been called upon to make th toughest decision and you did it out of love. I’ve also had to do that this week so know how afterwards you doubt yourself, but it’s just part of the grieving process. Please be gentle with yourself, and allow yourself time to grieve. Sleep tight little Luna xx

So sorry for your loss.
It is so hard to make these decisions, a decision made out of love.
Hugs to you and Tonks.
Sleep tight little Luna bear.xx

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

I find the grief hits me randomly and I'm sat at my desk at work hiding my tears.

For such little animals they sure leave such a big imprint on your heart.

Thank you for adding your location.

If you are looking for a new friend for Tonks, the best place to find one are The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue in Kidsgrove (@VickiA ) or Merrypigs Guinea Pig Sanctuary in Stoke-on-Trent (@Merrypigs Sanctuary ). Both rescues offer dating, so Tonks can have her own say in who she wants to live with.
Here is our list of vetted recommended rescues we can guarantee that you and Tonks are in safe and experienced hands and that any adopted guinea pigs are fully quarantined/vet cared and healthy on adoption, guaranteed not pregnant and used to human interaction: Recommended Guinea Pig Rescues

I have found that looking for options for the bereaved companion has helped me as well as it was something contructive I could do to make sure that the friend was happy once they were coming out of the grieving sooner than me, so I could grieve in my own human time.
Seeing a bereaved companion happy again has been definitely a mood lifter, even when you as the longer grieving human haven't the capacity to bond with the new piggy yourself yet - that will come in due time when you yourself are ready and usually not in a way you would expect, more in a creeping up way as the new piggy is not going to replace the unique bond you have shared with Luna.
