I first met you with your companion at a rescue 3 years ago. You were both around a year old and you had given birth to two babies born in their forever sleep. Being picked up wasn't your favourite thing and I accepted you as you were. Hearing the fridge door made you rush to the side of your home and wait eagerly for snacks. You were always just over 1000g and I hope I gave you 3 years of happy days. You were always a healthy piggy until two weeks ago when I noticed a change in you so off we went to the vet and you seemed to pick up after meds but then last weekend things became serious. I feel so very guilty at putting you through injections and hearing you squeal I feel guilty at syringe feeding you every 2 hours during your last day even though you really didn't want to eat but I was hoping it would all make you well again. I love you dearly Tabitha and I have been crying again as I received a beautiful message from you via the lady at the local per cremation sanctuary.

I hope you have now been reunited with your babies at the rainbow bridge and your other friends, Enjoy the fresh hay meadows there and when it's my time to leave this world I will come for you all.

Rest peacefully beautiful girl xx

BIG HUGS

I am so sorry about your loss. Tabitha has found a very loving and understanding home with you. We can sadly never choose when and what from our beloved ones die; even less so piggies from an obviously bad background. It it the quality that counts, not the length of life. You have quite obviously given loads of the happy todays in good care that guinea pigs measure their life by.

PS: Please be aware that the screaming when injected it is mostly surprise and only a very short discomfort/pain. I have had piggies on injection courses that would start screaming before the injection actually happened. ;)
This is just the usual overthinking stage at the onset of the grieving process when we reflect everything back onto ourselves and our mind grabs hold of irrevelancies or puts two unconnected things together in the lack of any real mistakes or shortcomings. It is an expression of how much you care and not actual failures. Of course you want your piggy to make it through an illness; the line between life and death is often not as clear cut as it is made out to be. You have done absolutely the right thing there. :tu:
