My Piggies
Adult Guinea Pig
It is with a heavy heart that I announce Violet was put to sleep Thursday night
. Throughout the week she was steadily declining, and had lost hair on her belly and all up her sides within a matter of days. She had severe arthritis, so she found it very hard to get around, bone cancer, kidney failure, ovarian cysts, possibly an URI (she had a runny nose on her last day), and very sore feet. She was also continuing to lose weight, despite syringe feeding her Critical Care, and got to about 700g (about 250g of weight loss in 3 months).
We made the difficult decision to end her suffering. She was 7 years and 10 months old. She went peacefully and Daisy and Oscar got to say their last goodbyes. I can't help thinking that I could have done more to help her, but deep down I know it was the right decision. She's gone over the rainbow bridge and reunited with her mother Rosie. Sleep tight my precious girl
