My gorgeous old boy, Nelson passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of yesterday morning after a long illness. He was five and a half. Sensing that my poorly-boy was nearing his time, I made him a cosy bed and he spent his last night sleeping in his own private bed next to mine. We had our last cuddle at 3am and he passed away not long after that.
He was such a little trooper, he had been through so much since his beloved companion, Freddie died in January but he always remained such a happy little chap. Never have I seen a bond between piggies so strong as that between Freddie and Nelson, and I doubt I'll ever see it again, but knowing that they have been reunited brings me some comfort. He joins Freddie, Ringo, Artie, Smartie, Tracey and Borbon, - as well as my Dad's childhood piggies - in piggy-heaven; they are quite the herd now!
Rest in peace my gorgeous boy; while I miss you dearly, the fact that you are no longer suffering brings me comfort while I am sad xxxxx
