I originally joined this forum to get some advice on one of my guinea pigs, Blueberry, and once he had to be pts I just felt heartbroken and didn't feel like I had a place here...
That was a month ago, and I took some much needed time to reflect on things.

Blueberry was a great guinea pig. Unfortunately, after an 8 month long battle of dental issues, he was not recovering due to an unknown internal problem. He lost so much weight, but he never lost his spirit! I never wanted him to suffer and it got to the point where he was in a lot of pain and I had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep.

I trust that he is well with his mother, aunt, and sister, but I still look for him in the cage every day.
Rest in peace, Blueberry <3 5/3/11 - 10/6/14

I also just wanted to talk about my other guinea pig that passed away just a couple months before. Her name was Toasted Marshmallow, but more fondly known as Toasty. Her death was so sudden and unexpected. I believe it was a stroke, I found her laying in the corner of her cage unresponsive and I just took her out and held her in my arms until she passed away a few minutes later.

She was the runt of the litter and always on the smallish side, but she was the fastest of all my guinea pigs and zipped around her cage when she didn't want to be held! Toasty had such a huge appetite for a little piggy!

Rest in peace my sweet Toasty <3 5/3/11 - 7/11/14

Goodbye...♥//♥

I really am so very sorry you lost Toasty and Blueberry. You do have a place here as this forum is for piggy lovers, which describes you. I know how heartbroken you are and I wish I could take away your pain.
Thank-you so much, your comment means the world to me!

I am very sorry for your losses. It is tough when they come so close together and you haven't been able to brace yourself.

We are here to support anybody who is going through having to draw the line on a very ill and deteriorating piggy and suffering from the blow of single and multiple losses to the best of our abilities - or any other rough patch. many of us have been though it ourselves and know how gutting it is. ;)

RIP Blueberry and Toasty

PS: I am sorry but I can't see your pics?

I am so sorry for the loss of your piggies, they were both absolutely gorgeous. It is awful when we lose them and making the decision to PTS is always an agonising one, it is always one we make with the love we have for them at the front of our mind.

You always have a place on the forum remember that, we are here to help and support you through these difficult times. Huge hugs x

Sleep well little ones

RIP Blueberry & Toasty

so very sorry for your losses. :( as others have said, always a place on the forum. hugs x

So very sorry. They both sounded like lovely wee piggies, and I'm sure they will be reunited at Rainbow Bridge. It is overwhelming, the sense of loss you feel and most on the forum will know exactly how you feel....

They were beautiful pigs. Blueberry had such unusual colouring. Its so hard to loose them, I recently lost one too and know how awful it is.
Of course you have a place here!

Beautiful little piggies! It's always nice (and very bittersweet) to be there with them when they go. When we were kids and had guinea pigs, I was always glad to have parents that didn't try to hide from us that there comes a time when a beloved pet needs to be let go and that it's okay to be upset no matter how small the creature. I lost one of my dogs just a few weeks ago at 11 years from cancer and that was tough but my mom and I held her as she was given the injection and she was gone very quickly. She was a beautiful dog that drove me up the wall sometimes with her garbage eating and barking at the mailman but you realize that all of that just made you love them even more :) There will always be another piggy out there that needs you too!

So sorry for your losses. You have every right to be part of the forum. Once a piggie lover always a piggie lover.

Tell me about it. I'm going through it again with another one of my girls who just developed a tumor, but she's not in any pain and is living a very luxurious life!

I appreciate that, this forum has really helped me, I wish I had found it years ago!

Oh here:

Thank-you very much (: Yes it is very difficult, but it's good to know that we're doing what's best for them.
Hugs!

Yes I like to think they've all found each other over that Rainbow Bridge, it does bring a sense of comfort.

Thank-you. He certainly did, none of his siblings or parents had coloring like that, it was very lovely! Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, it just really gets to you doesn't it?

How good of them! Yeah, I always feel silly trying to explain to people that I'm sad because of guinea pigs. They always give me this look as if it shouldn't be a big deal. Oh I'm very sorry to hear about your dog, that must have been awful. You always miss those little annoying quirks of theirs ;)
I do hope to care for more piggies in the future (:
