Goodbye Vlad

After four long weeks of being unwell, visiting the vets for various meds and struggling to keep on any weight, this evening I said goodbye to Vlad and helped him over the rainbow bridge (With the vets help of course) He was such a sweetheart and I am really going to miss him. He was the oldest pig I’ve ever had - he was approx 6 years old (He was a rescue so you can never be sure). Goodnight sweet Vlad, sleep tight. We will all miss you.

I’m so sorry that you’ve had to say goodbye to Vlad. It’s the hardest part of responsible pet ownership, having to make that decision, but when the time came you loved him enough to let him go. Big hugs. Sleep tight, little man x

Thanks for your kind thoughts for Vlad and myself. I’ve hardly had time to grieve trying to bond the single pigs I have through recent deaths. One worked, one didn’t - isn’t it always the way! I did cry when I laid Vlad to rest in a pot, along with the ashes of his former friends Boris and Arthur. It’s covered over and I will let it settle a bit before planting it up. It has given me the strength to bury the other ashes I have too, so another pot now holds the ashes of Syd, Toby, Bruno and Jack (my avatar). A little piece of me is now slightly more relaxed, as I always fretted about their ashes being sat on a shelf, in slowly fading cardboard tubes. Oh the joys and woes of being a guinea pig slave - I sometimes wonder what on earth I've gotten myself into! Thanks again everyone.
