Lone-Star-Jodie
Junior Guinea Pig
Last Friday I had to make the very difficult decision to have my gorgeous girl Zee PTS after her struggle with UTI and bladder stones which she went through all of her treatment like a trooper. Including medicines, injections, some dietary changes I was given the option of surgery but I was unsure of whether it was fair to put a 6 year old guinea pig through such a thing which would only stress her out four times as much as giving medicine did.
In the last week she was beginning to deteriorate losing weight her eating slowed down but then I notice her water intact was double that of her normal intake. Then I cleaned her out on Sunday the week before and their had been no urine bowel movement. She was in pain and the squeaks were evidence of that she didn't want to be petted or touched. So though hard it was the right decision.
She got to eat a piece of Banana that she slowly nibbled at and in her final moments the vet put her inside her green cozy so she got to go sleep in her favourite place.
She was always a feisty and peppy little lady she was perfect. We met in Cornwall in 2007 after she was rescued from squalid conditions where the owners allowed two male boars in with two females getting the two pregnant. Zee was one of the babies left but her mummy and sibling did not make it. She came home and met her new mummy who loosing her sister and companion was trilled to have this new tiny and very shy companion and though didn't produce milk allowed 8 week old Zee to suckle from her. They had a wonderful relationship.
Zee was always an amazing little lady so affectionate and well behaved wouldn't stray from my side in an open garden she would just sit with me and Kimmi for year that they had together until I lost Kimmi who was 4. After that I couldn't get over Kimmi's loss though selfish of me I never got another to keep Zee company but she would come everywhere with she would be out 24/7 and we became so close.
I would go to Zee when I was at my most sad (High school was a harsh and hard place to be at) So I would come home curl in my bed with Zee under my chin and cry and she was great so loving to me a great comfort.
I am so thankful she came into my life and graced me with all of these years. I love you so much little piggle. Go meet up with the other rainbow piggles Kimmi will be waiting with Gina, Truffle, Angel and Beauty.
Sleep now Zee-Bee. x
