I know this is for pigggies, and I am an owner of 2 lovely boys but yesterday we had to have our 14 year old jack russell Masie put to sleep.
I am truly devastated. She was the most wonderful girl I have ever known...In many ways she really was the worrst behaved dog (think Marley from Marley and Me) but that is what made her awesome.
She had so so so so much love for us all...always ready for a cuddle, those beautiful big brown eyes never faded right until the end.
She's been poorly for a few weeks, with cancer on her tummy...But her tumour seemed to have spread so rapidly over the last few days...we took her to our vet, who is so nice, and he said it was best for her to go to sleep...as she wouldnt get better. her last few days were peacefull...she spent most of her time sleeping, totally unusual for Masie...we knew she wasn't enjoying life anymore...but part of you says it's ok...she'll be ok...she's just tired....deep down i knew she wasn't going to come back with us yesterday.
We buried her in her fleece bed, under our apple tree where the sun shines in the evening with her favorite blankett and her favorite hoop tug toy..that shes had for years and its the only toy she never shredded. my poor baby. the house is so cold and quiet without her........
it sounds so strange but the thought of her little body in the ground outside makes me feel so ill. ...like i want to go scoop her out and bring her inside....i know i cant. she was such a good dog....so loving.....she loved us all unconditionally.....she ruled the roost and i wouldnt have had it any other way. she was there through everything with me...always knowing what to do...whether to jump up on mummy and giver her cuddle....or roll around on the rug to make us smile......i'm so devastated....my poor baby. she just slipped away. she looked like she was just sleeping in her little bed. just like she did when i watched her so many times.
sorry for all this rambling....i just didnt know what else to say.
goodnight little girl, you were so so so so loved....we'll miss you forever...you'll never be forgotten....thank you for being a part of our lives. you made the dent in it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx we love you xxxxxxxxxx

Oh gosh, how very sad, i am so so so sorry, it is devastating losing such a long standing member of your family.

Rip Masie dog, sounds like you had a fab life, Run free at the bridge x

So sorry to hear your news :(8...
Run free at the bridge Masie. RIP
x

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think losing a dog is especially hard as they are a member of the family, like a sister or daughter. I still get emotional thinking about our dog who died 3 years ago. They are always a part of you. People who haven't had dogs don't understand the bond.

Sweet dreams Masie, you'll always be remembered with love. x

Thank you so much, i agree the bond is so so so strong it is just like losing a family member......i'll never ever forget her...she was a gem x

I'm so sorry to hear about Masie. I too had to make that decision when my dog was fourteen and it is truly heartbreaking saying goodbye to a faithful companion that has shared your life for so long. Sleep tight little doggie..x

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your beautiful Masie 8...

I also have a poorly 14 year old badly behaved dog who makes up for his bad behaviour by being so loving.... and I know when the time comes I will be totally devastated too :(

Try not to think about her body in the ground - her spirit is still with you and the good memories - try to think of them instead if you can,

Big hugs and RIP Masie - she will never be forgotten

xx

So sorry for the loss of your special girl. She sounded such an wonderful character, that was a very moving tribute to her. *huge hugs*

RIP Masie

Awww...thank you for your post...it really means alot that i am not alone...some people don't understand when it comes to losing an animal you love so much.
I think naughty dogs are the best as just like you say, they make up for their behaviour by being so so so loving and affectionate........make the most of the time you have left with him...even though i was there with Masie right up until the end i still feel time was snatched from me....its totally devastating. thanks again for such kind words...i know one day i'll think of her and not feel sad, but i'll smile thinking about how gorgeously naughty and full of love she was.
xxxxx
