With great sadness we have to report the loss of beautiful brave Clover, herd leader for over 4 years. Known in her prime as Big Pig, and Boss Lady, then in her older years affectionately called "Clovey wovey nosey wosey" by her daft human followers for her pretty pink twitchy nose that was always busy compensating for her for her failing eyesight.

Clover joined us in August 2018 along with Jezebel Floof, who has either her sister or her mum. Her previous owners were well intentioned but clueless, and these poor girls had lived for 2 years in a hamster cage on hard flooring, fed unlimited carrots and muesli, so were super obese with no muscle tone and dreadful deformed feet because they had nowhere to lie down.
Clover was described as "the quiet one", but we quickly discovered she had a limp and was living in chronic pain, having suffered a broken leg at some point which hadn't been treated and had healed badly.

On soft fleece with plenty space to move about, both these big beautiful ladies toned up and slimmed down, made friends with my original piggies, and helped establish a herd of 5. A few months later they were joined by Blodwen, who really was the love of Clover's life and turned her from a distrustful nervous piggy to a happy herd leader. Blod always supported Clover and quietly helped keep her at the top of the herd hierarchy, even during her last few weeks when her leadership skills were becoming less obvious, and Blod had to step in with a quick nip on the bottom for the cheeky youngsters trying to take advantage!
Here's a herd picture from happier times, when Luna and Lavender joined the group to help Clover get over the death of Jezzy Floof last Christmas.

Sadly time waits for no pig, and Clover developed bad arthritis due to her uneven walk, previous leg break, and unfortunate early life. She struggled bravely on for over a year, but started to go downhill after more of her friends, Piggle and Puggle, left quite suddenly for the rainbow bridge recently. Her front legs and front paws were wearing out with taking all her weight, she was completely blind from cataracts, and then a few days ago something just gave way and she fell. She fought bracely on for as long as she could, but in the end the vet helped her over the rainbow bridge yesterday, age 6 years plus, after a glorious reign of 4 years 2 months as a brave, strong, generous and kind herd leader.
Clover had a state funeral befitting her important status, her coffin box lined with hay and parsley which was her favourite, then carefully wrapped in newspaper from the day of the Queen's funeral so she had a fitting obituary: "She rests in peace, while her people mourn".
Then piggy daddy played Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries while we sent her to join her friends gone before.
Sleep tight and fly high old girl, go find Jezzy and Piggle and Puggle and finally take the weight off those poor old painful legs x

So sorry for your loss of Clover, such a beautiful tribute to her ❤️🌈

I’m so sorry you have lost Big Pig Clover, she reminds me so much of my first piggie Penny. Clover was the queen of the her herd and reigned supreme! She had a wonderful life with you and Piggy Daddy and despite her problem was a strong but fair leader, she’ll leave a big Clover shaped hole, sending big hugs

Sleep tight gorgeous girl 🌈

What a lovely tribute to your sweet girl. I am so sorry that you have had to say goodbye to her. You loved her enough to let her go. Huge hugs. Sleep tight, lovely Clover

I am so sorry that you have Clover to mourn too now, so many changes for you in such a short space of time 😢. Clover seemed like such a lovely girl, I'm sure she will be sorely missed. 🌈

Thanks everyone for your kind words, this was a very tough one because she was a very tough brave piggy who didnt want to go and kept eating and somehow propelling herself about and pretending she was fine for a few days far beyond what should be physically possible given her state of health... several times in her last few I thought she was leaving us then found her an hour later resolutely munching hay or waiting for dinner! But finally she gave in and lay down and stopped eating just a few hours before her final vet appointment, she was ready in the end to be helped over the bridge. Her friends seem relieved too like we are, they are sad she has gone but glad she's out of pain.

What a lovely tribute for a very special piggy. Clover was one of my favorite forum piggies and will be greatly missed. She found a wonderful home with you and her friends and it certainly made up for the awful start to her life.

Popcorn free across the rainbow bridge beautiful girl.💕🌈🐾

So sad that you showed Clover your final act of love. She's out of pain now and popcorning over the Rainbow Bridge with her friends.

So very sorry.
The fact that after such a dreadful start in life Clover lived to such a grand age is a real tribute to the wonderful care and love she had from you and Piggy Daddy and her herd.
Losing Clover so soon after the others will leave your hearts very bruised.
Be gentle with yourselves .
Holding you both in my heart ♥️

I'm so sorry for your loss. You did the kindest act for Clover, though that does not make it any easier for you.Takecare.

What a beautiful tribute for a very special pig.
She could not have had a more amazing life once she found you.
I bet she is prancing around with her old cage mates and showing them all who is boss again.

Sorry for your losses and you had to say goodbye to Clover. That was a lovely tribute, you gave her such a wonderful life after such a rubbish start and she lived to a wonderful age due to all that love and care. Sleep tight Clover x

I’m so sorry you’ve lost your utterly gorgeous girl, and had such a hard time with piggies off to the Bridge recently, sending you all huge hugs. Such a beautiful tribute to such a little brave fighter, who’s been such a brilliant leader to her lovely herd for all this time ❤️ She had the greatest life ever with you x
Sleep tight beautiful Clover ❤️❤️ xx

I’m sorry for your loss :(

Such a nice tribute. I love the way you talk about your pigs, and how you look after them. They’re very lucky to have a home with you.

So sad to hear the lovely Clover has travelled to RB - what a wonderful life she had with you after that terrible start.
She was clearly living her best life with you Piggy Daddy and all the other pigwigs - look after yourselves as you cope with loss of Jezzy ,Piggle, Puggle and Clover

So sorry to hear you have lost another member of your lovely herd.
Such a beautiful tribute to Clover.
Thank you for giving her the loving home she deserved.
Sending you and piggy daddy massive hugs.
Popcorn free at the rainbow 🌈bridge with Jezzy, Piggle and Puggle little Clover.xx

Sorry you have lost Big Boss Clover, so soon after losing Puggle, sending hugs to you and Piggy Daddy.
I "loved" Your post because although losing her is so sad, you painted a joyous picture of a piggy life well lived, thanks to your love and care. After such a poor start, she did really well to get to 6 years old. That can't help but leave a Clover shaped hole, but it's full of good memories.
I loved the "state funeral" you held for her. 😁 I hope the rest of the herd wheeked along to "The Lord is my piggy slave, I'll not want" etc.

Sleep tight, Clover x 🌈 no arthritis or wonky legs over Rainbow Bridge
