I haven't posted on here for a long time, but I just wanted to say goodbye to our beautiful, sweet Lilypig, who passed away last night, following surgery to unsuccessfully remove a stone that was lodged in his urinary tract.
I hope I did the right thing agreeing to the surgery, but I felt I had to do everything I could to give him a chance.
We are missing him so much already. He was a sweet, loving little pig, we feel a bit lost without him.

Oh how sad. I am so sorry you lost your special boy. You did the right thing by agreeing to the surgery as you had to give it a chance or he would have been in so much pain. Please do not blame yourself in anyway. It is just a very tragic event.

I am ever so sorry - depending on where a stone is located in a boar's urethra, which is longer and has an inglenook, it can be extremely difficult to downright impossible to get it out. On the other hand, he would have died a very slow, very painful death if you had left it in. Poor boy, you were quite literally between a rock and a hard place with him! :(

RIP Lilypig - so sad that it wasn't to be!

Thank you, it's good to know I did the right thing. Our vet did everything he could, but he did give me the option to put him to sleep or try the surgery. I felt I had to give him the chance of life, but I guess it was not to be.
He was in pain before the surgery, at least now he is running free and happy again.

Bless you @scrumpy66 , you cared deeply for the little chap and offered him a chance but sadly it wasn't to be. I am sure he had a lovely life with you. Big hugs

I am so sorry, you did the right thing. Really sorry for your loss, huge hugs to you. X

RIP Lilypig

I have lost piggies in unavoidable operations myself. It is always very upsetting when it doesn't come off. Unfortunately, bladder stones are one of the things that don't go away by themselves and that are excruciatingly painful, so you did absolutely the right thing. Try to remember the happy times and that you have done for him what you could.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved piggy. Rest in peace little Lilypig xx

I lost my Benny in exactly the same circumstances. He passed away just 2 days after an unsuccessful operation to remove a stone lodged in his urethra.

He is pain free now. Have fun at the bridge, little one x

I'm really really sorry for your loss, it sounds very distressing for you :( I hope you feel better soon....
