Goodnight my beautiful angel Stephanie 💔

We lost our beautiful girl Steffi this evening She was 4.5 years old, and adopted 13 months ago as a next door neighbour pig for our other single unfriendly piggy, Peter, who is now 6 years old himself.
She had suddenly fallen ill earlier today, and unfortunately upon xray and ultrasound, the vets found a huge mass in her abdomen. She went downhill so quickly, I am shocked and heartbroken

She wasn’t a fan of other piggies, which she let poor Pete know often! But she was so affectionate with people, and was always happy for a chin scratch. She was greedy, cheeky and naughty, and I’m so devastated to have lost her.

I love her so much, and will miss her every day. The house is already so much quieter without her x

I am so very sorry for your sudden loss. Guinea pigs are prey animals and wired to suppress symptoms of illness and pain to a surprising degree. This means that when you notice anything wrong, it is often already very wrong - and the speed with which a piggy can go downhill can be terrifying because we tend to forget that they are just small animals with a very fast metabolism on the bottom line.

Please try to take comfort in that you have given Stephanie such a happy and loving home that she has fought hard right to the end to stay with you for as long as possible and that this love will always stay with you in your heart and your precious memories.
I am sure that that there is a little furry guardian angel trying out their new wings to look after you and her little family.

Getting used to the huge gap in your life is never easy. We don't grieve by species but we grieve by the strength of our bond. You and Steph obviously had a very strong one.

If you can, place a picture of Stephanie or a plant in that physical gap.

I am sorry to read our sad news. Steffi would have known how much how love her and had a good life with you, loving her chin scratches.
