Adult Guinea Pig
I hope you know how much you are loved and missed. I remember when I first held you in my arms seven years ago. You were small and wriggly and I remember thinking, “It’s our responsibility to keep you alive and we really don’t know anything.” We had researched and prepared but we still didn’t know much and this forum has been invaluable.
I remember your first evening. We were told that you would eat eventually and so mini-slave and I sat as far away as we could for forty minutes before you and Bianca came out of the sleeping area.
You have always been such a sweet girl, and you were so tame in your last year. You let us stroke you and not even a nudge on your bottom fazed you if you wanted to stay exactly where you were right now, thank you very much.
You and Bianca realised that you didn’t need to beg for food. A nose rub followed by an expectant look was good enough.
You and Bianca were lovely sisters, and when Hamlet came along he adored you. You finally got to be the boss but you were both so gentle and perfect with each other.
The vet said that you are infamous among the staff (I think it was to do with your thyroid but everyone finds you so sweet.) Bianca had also been famous among the vets.
We stayed with you until the very end and I hope you felt nothing but love and peace. You are buried next to your sister in the same garden that your outdoor hutch was in.
Good night, Ophelia. Bianca will be waiting for you
