Some of you may remember that I adopted little Romana back in February. She was in a bit of a state when she came to live with me, but with Simon’s excellent care, she spent the last nine months of her life enjoying a loving home.
Despite chronic dental and respiratory problems, Romana was a happy little thing who LOVED burrowing into a big, fresh pile of hay. Although she was small, she couldn’t half squeak loud! I remember I was coming back from a walk with our dog one summer’s evening, and my Mum must have rustled some paper in the kitchen because suddenly I could hear her distinctive squeak from two houses away!
Romana was always bright and chirpy, right up until Wednesday afternoon when I noticed that she didn’t quite seem herself. Yesterday, her health deteriorated rapidly and we knew she wasn’t going to be with us much longer. Sadly, lung disease meant that she wasn’t getting sufficient oxygen, and fluid in her lungs was making it difficult to breath. She was helped over the Rainbow Bridge this morning.
Good night, little’un. You gave me 285 days of joy, I can only hope that I gave you the same.
