This morning, our rabbit Sophie was put to sleep. She was my mum's bunny, I was getting ready this morning when I heard a lot of noise coming from her hutch she was fitting. We took her to the vet she had EU the vet said. She was to far gone for treatment. It was horrible seeing her the way she was panicked not knowing what was going on.

Before I knew it I was with her well she was getting Put to Sleep and it was the most peaceful experience I have ever witnessed, we stayed and stroked her well her heart slowed. The vet saw us immediately, gave Sophie a sedative and we waited with her for about 20 minutes until she was fully relaxed for the next injection. It really was lovely, and although we're all sad she's gone I don't think she could have left this world anymore peacefully.

So sorry to hear about little Sophie bunny. She will be running free on the Rainbow Bridge free from pain. And you have the reassurance that she went very peacefully, which is the best that we can ever hope for.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments, such a shock how quick it came on but I was very impressed with the vet she really put Sophie first even though she had a lot of people waiting she made sure Sophie was comfortable and got to leave in dignity.

It was E cuniculi the vet said she had not EU, I meant EC but I knew the prognosis wasn't good as she was fitting lots and was very distressed in the time it took us to get her in the basket and to the vet.

So sorry to hear about your girl. We recently lost a bunny to EC and it was horrid. Glad to hear she passed so peacefully.

I'm sorry Charlotte, I must say it's not an experience I'd like to repeat. I'm sorry for your loss, at least they are both pain free now.
