Goodnight Xena

We said goodbye to our little bumble bee Xena last week. She was diagnosed with heart failure last year and had been doing really well on her medication, but I think she just succumbed to it in the end. She was with us in the morning, and when we got home from work she was gone.

We have so many happy memories with her, we've had her since she was 6 weeks old, along with her sister Sephy. They were an interesting pair, often bickering and Sephy would deliberately annoy Xena, but they would cosy up together and Sephy always gave Xena eye kisses. They originally lived with Cap, but he fell head over heels for Penny so they moved in with the very gentle Logan who Xena adored. When Penny and Logan passed within days of each other, the girls moved back in with Cap again.

Xena was very shy and placid. She didn't mind being second in line and submitted to whoever she was with, but slowly grew in confidence and got used to shoving her friends out the way to ensure she got her fair share of veg.

She's been with us for so long, in all three of the houses we've lived in, so it doesn't quite feel right that's she's not here anymore. It feels like we've lost a dear old friend.
