Hi I have just ordered some products from gorgeous guineas for my male piggy, I'm pretty sure he has a fungal infection, he has a crusty scab on his face and scabby fur loss on his chin. He is eating still but doesnt look very happy bless him.
Anyway I just ordered so i dont suppose i will recieve the products until tuesday at earliest, but will they definately work, and is there anything i can do in the meantime to make him feel more comfy? I dont want him in pain obviously! rolleyes

Any advice is gratefully recieved, as I dont know whether to just take him to the vet and have him seen today, as Tuesday is quite away away for an ikkle piggy. :(

Thanx x

They "will" work if it is, indeed, a fungal infection, and if you use the products as instructed. Aloe Vera gel or ointment can be helpful in cass of sore patches or lesions, so if you can get hold of some and apply it to the bald patches, it should soothe the skin.

Sorry I didnt mean to come across as iffy or anything just getting anxious about him, sorry, thank you though i will try that

That condition around his lips is easily treated.
Firstly, you must remove the scabs. Be warned, the pig will not enjoy this procedure, neither will you. Then apply Daktarin Oral Gel to the affected area about three times daily.
You should start to see an improvement within a few days. However the treatment must be continued for at least three weeks to ensure the fungal infection has been treated completely.

Just to add, get your story straight before you to to the chemist and get your Daktarin oral gel, as it's over the counter! I got myself in a right muddle last time I was there about the age of the 'child' I was buying it for, and had to pretend it was for a friend's child, given that I sounded so uncertain! :red:))
