Got Bored... Maybe I'll Just Make Toys For Them... :)

I haven't used my bandsaw much lately and tonight I thought I ought to go out there and make some use of my scrap 2x4 Hahaha! It's a first time make and my hands were frozen solid halfway through cutting so I imagine the next one will have all four legs and generally look decent! Spike and Oreo were upset that it wasn't food I didn't make it for them but does anyone know what wood is safe for piggies as long as it's untreated? I believe this one is untreated spruce- could I make toys for them out of it?
