Yeah, so apparently every time this stupid cotton commercial comes up on the tv, my pregnant female guinea pig starts squeaking loudly. At first I thought it was just a coincidence, but then when it played back to back, I realized she really only was doing it for that song on the commercial. I pulled the song up on the computer and sure enough it was/is the reason for her squeaking. I'm wondering if she enjoys the melody and is singing along to it, or perhaps is just squeaking in protest because she finds it atrocious. I don't believe GP's have a sense of rhythm, so I find the first to be hard to believe, but you never know. Thoughts?

Popcorning is refering to a jumping action that a piggy does when it is happy. Its very lovely to see and usually results from them being clean, given plenty of space, yummy hay, or veggies. :) Atleast in my house.

Oh wow, so that's what my female was doing. All along I just thought she suffered a mild case of tourette's syndrome.

Well if you thought she was suffering i would hope like any responsible owner you took her to the vets. Then you would have found out that it wasnt a problem.

I would have assumed it was a joke too if i had not read some of the OPs previous posts. Sorry if it was a joke.

Aww it is so cute she likes that advert! Many guinea pigs like music and certain songs. One of my guinea pigs really likes classical music.

Many years ago I had a house GP that loved music, she would sit by my feet as I played the piano. She would also run to the door to see who it was if anyone knocked! Lovely, lovely animal. But I have found that most of them do seem to like music.

My 2 boys love music like Enya and pan flute (some racial memory of the Andes perhaps?). I'm not overly fond of that music so have a special piggy music library on the computer that I put on to play when I go out. On the other hand they rumble with displeasure when they hear the front garden gate (it squeaks) or any telephone ringing (even if it's just on the telly). And any new sounds, until they get used to them enough to put them in the like or rumble category, makes them pop their heads up and look at me. Then I say "good boys you're OK' and they go back to whatever they were doing. Recently we have had heaps of rain. 2 very soggy looking magpies were drying off on my back porch the other day and set up a lot of chirping. The piggy cage is just inside the door that leads to the porch so the boys certainly heard those birds, immediately lifted their heads out of their feeding bowls and looked at me. I said my usual reassurance and they went back to eating.

awwwwwwwww......... it's great that your voice can reassure them x)
The girls do NOT like magpies singing either! or rattling keys ....they brrrrrrrrrrrrr if someone does that!

What a cute story! I'm glad you've found something that your piggie likes :D
My piggies love the rattle of my keys, they know it means I'm coming home from work (there's a tunnel under my house so they can hear from the front to the back :)p ) and they're going to be fed :)

Yup, that's the "I don't like that" sound!
