Hello everyone, I just want to make a disclaimer that I am American and I don't know what term you use for urination. I've heard people say weeing. But i am going to say peeing. Anyways, my female gp has been peeing in her pellet bowl. I filled it, then heard a noise. She had her bum on top of it peeing in it. I later cleaned the cage and refilled the food because I didn't want her eating soiled food. She had done this a few times before but I didn't think anything of it. Now she has done it everyday for a week straight. I don't know what to do make her stop. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome!

Urination is not an uncommon problem, especially in young guinea pigs. Please sprinkle your veg around and feed any pellets twice daily in a small portion that can be eaten in one sitting; then remove the bowl between meals.

Up to 80% of the daily food intake should be hay; it is actually the silica in hay and grass which keep the crucial guinea pig teeth back teeth ground down and the guts healthy. Pellets shouldn't make more than 5% of the daily food intake. That is about 1 tablespoon (ca. 10g) for adult guinea pigs to max. 40g for under 4 months old piggies. By feeding small portions you encourage your guinea pigs to eat more hay, which contributes a lot towards overall health and longevity.
Recommendations For A Balanced General Guinea Pig Diet

Is your girl a single piggy? Then she is more likely to develop attention seeking behaviours; anything that grabs your attention and keeps you busy with her as she may miss the stimulation from round the clock guinea pig interaction.

Maybe supply her with a litter tray to pee in, and for now sprinkle her food around as suggested above.

Hello, she is a single piggy because she is aggressive to other gps. Just not humans. Thanks for the tips
