I just cant get ontop of the lot of it, last year I could have them out in early may and they kept it short and springy, this year due to the weather and now having so many divots on the lawn, I cant use my push mower, I used the strimmer to regain some control on 2/3rds of it but its coming back again before the pigs can eat it quick enough - I could make silage or hay with it, its going to seed and everything :))

anyway, this is how long it is, run has been here for over a week ready for the girls, its all stemmy so quite tough for them to munch, but they mostly like making grass tunnels.

most of this will all be squashed down by the end of their grass time, I will move the run to a less over grown patch for tomorrow as they make too much mess and not enough mowing

poor silver, next to the girls there is a lot to be said about having a group of eyes to give you confidence, he is spending most of the time in the igloo

although the igloo is moving around the grass as he goes.

have I got too much grass? I just hope I dont regret worrying about having so much of it later in the year :))

:)) :)) Piggies are loving the jungle :))

That looks pretty fun :))

I would try turning it into hay. Get like a long knife or something like a scyth (sp) and bundle it all together for hay. I would find that pretty fun :))

Ooooh grass tunnels! Bet they're having so much fun! Bless Silver, sure he will gain some confidence soon :)

I wish i had that on my lawn! wow!

I have bits in my garden that are very long and not suitable for the runs to go on top of (holes etc that they could get out of because of uneven ground). I cut it in the evenings and give it to them instead of salad. They love it, and it keeps the grass mown as well as giving the pigs time to make tunnels.

Its actually still very flat ground, just from 3 winters and having 2 dogs at one point - my foster couldnt go off lead outside the garden so he would run in circles intead and I had a ring of mud round the outside one year, thats all grown back but as soon as I try to cut the grass with the simple push mower it gets wedged on a clump of root and I get fed up having to unwedge it so it takes me ages to mow instead of just pushing it along. It was easier with the strimmer but I am petrified of the darn thing :red plus with hay fever I tend to not want to mow for too long. I hope the guys will get the lawn back to less stemmy and stringy to nice and covered, for their sakes really.

They did a good job yesterday, moved the run to a shorter area so they can munch along later, and I will now finish off the long bits with scissors.

A hover mower would help if you can afford one, they are not very expensive and good on uneven ground.

In the jungle the mighty jungle the piggies like to play........ :(|)

This came into my mind when looking at your lush greeeeeeeeeeeen spaghetti drooldrooldrool
