Grass Feed?

We've been shopping around for a hutch and run for the garden to put our piggies out when the nights are a bit warmer. I was trying to find out as much as I can and came across some info about the grass - fairly obviously it said not to let your piggies eat the grass if it had been treated with pesticides, which ours hasn't, but we have used grass feed on it. Is this ok? Half of me thinks it would be, but I don't want to make them poorly or anything you see :-\

Also, a big thanks to the helpful people on here - I looked at the thread about trimming their nails and did both of ours yesterday after i had bathed them with the help (or hindrance more like!) of my little boy O0
 
Your guineas shouldn't be allowed on your lawn due to the grass feed. :)
 
Ah thank you, i'm really glad i checked. If the grass doesn't get fed again is there any amount of time that they would be safe on it, say after 3 months for example, or am I best just to keep them off it altogether? :-\
 
I used grass feed on my lawn which was one that was safe for pets and children - cats and dogs like eating grass too sometimes and it would be really difficult to keep them off the lawn. But just to be on the safe side I kept my guineas off it for 2 weeks and in the meantime it had been watered in lots. I would check which one you used. There were no side effects to my guineas after a couple of weeks.
 
Oh right, I'll go and check it thanks. We have just taken up a concrete path and turfed the garden around the original grass - OH informed me that he has only fed the new turf so far to encourage it to root and what not so if I stop him from feeding the original grass I could put them on there. Will go and check the box now though as they might be alright then on the new stuff too in a couple of weeks.......
 
Sorry, I was a bit blunt earlier. It does depend on the product you used. I am not sure how long you would have to wait until you can put you guineas on a treated area. However, If you look on the packaging of the product it should say something on the lines like you will need to retreat the area after a certain amount of time, so if the packaging says retreat after six weeks I wouldn't put your guineas on the treated area until after six weeks. Hope this makes sense. :)
