Hi everyone,
It has been very sunny lately, so I think it is time to let Ginger and Snap go outside. But, I have a dog, and he does his business EVERYWHERE. We pick up his poop often, but I am concerned that the guineas will ingest some that was left on the grass. Same goes for urine. Do you think it is safe to let them graze outside where the dog was?

I know this probably won't help much but I am currently training my dogs to only poop and pee on the patio, because the grass gets killed! The two of them will make the grass so patchy and bad that it goes really yellow. At the moment I've got a temporary fence up, pegged around the edge of the lawn so that they can only do their business on the patio. There is still enough space for them to run about, but I'm taking them on longer walks anyway and they get a good run out on the fields.
Hopefully the dogs should have learned by now that they are allowed on the grass, but just not to poop and pee. The grass is looking in a much better state now, so that is a plus already.

I'm sure i read somewhere that it's not safe to let the piggies go where dogs have weed or pooed.
I am hoping to get some turf this weekend which i will lay and fence off before my dogs can get to it.

No, I don't think it's safe. I've had to confine my dog to a separate part of the lawn for this reason. I even inspect grass for bird poo before I let the piggies out on a patch. However, right after a heavy rain is always good as all the gunk has been washed into the soil. Still, because my boys are on grass several days a week, I de-worm them every 3 months as a precaution. You just can't tell what little nasties they might have ingested by accident.
