OK, so today was the second attempt at grass time with our Swiss Hooligans.
We have a nice lawn and a decent size garden with lots of areas for them to explore, and the weather today was perfect.
Last time didn't go so well, and since DH is away I couldn't get the huge run out on my own (as a slight aside DH has names the huge run 'The Divorce Maker' - so sweet).
So I decided this was a good thing.
The pigs love their indoor floor time run, so clearly I should use that one instead, because last time they were overwhelmed by the space in 'The Divorce Maker' - I'm such an idiot, scaring my poor babies like that.
So I set up the small run - the one they adore, and wheek to be put into, and the bounce around like lunatics in.
I dragged a chair into the sunshine.
I made a coffee.
I sighed a happy sigh.
I got DD to go and catch the guinea pigs (they adore her and always come straight up to her).
And we put our lovely, bouncy little guinea pigs into their tiny run, covered with fabric and filled with lots of shelters.
And that is exactly where they stayed for 3 whole hours - in an old cardboard box from the recycling pile!
In all of that time we saw ONE nose - ONE tiny little guinea pig nose, which snuck out for a few brief seconds to snatch a mouthful of luxuriant Spring grass.
Really - one nose?
Am I expecting too much that they might just want to nibble on the grass and be out in the fresh air for a while?
Lap time tonight on the other hand was filled with wild frisking, and chatter, and clambering over the aforementioned DD.
So my three guinea pigs officially think my garden is not fun place to be.
Anyone want to come over and drink coffee with me in the garden (and then cut the grass, which was supposed to be the hooligans job)?
