Hi all. Our boys have grass every day and have done for the past year or so, so their tummies are used to it but always wondered once I cut them fresh grass is there a time limit as to how quickly it needs to be fed to them or that they need to eat it within? 🤔 Hope that makes sense 🤔

There’s no limit as such. However, Picked grass will dry out (and or course how quickly that happens depends on the temperature) - so loss of moisture is the only downside to picking in advance of feeding.

You can certainly pick in the morning and feed it that evening. Keep it loosely packed and not in direct light.

That's fantastic thank you for the quick reply our dear boy Rusty has had a bit of a time of it over the past week or so and has lost some weight but has always loved his grass so I thought if I get more in one go he can have an abundant supply 💐

You could keep it in the fridge - it should last a couple of days. Again, keep it loose and make sure to dry it on kitchen paper before putting in the fridge

I hope rusty is ok

Ah I hope Rusty is ok 🥰
I buy readigrass as a top up for my elderly boy and ill younger boy
They love it

Hi

Ideally, straight away. The sooner you feed the better because the moment you rip (which is actually better) or cut, the fermentation process will set in. This is worst in mowed grass, which is why those should never be fed as they can cause a potentially fatal tummy upset.

If you are out, then please put the grass straight into the fridge or a cool box (if you are travelling with your piggies) to slow this process down.

Thank you @Roselina I will order some now.

Readigrass is dried - it is a bit rich so a little to start with and I sometimes find it has a lot of dust but that settles to the bottom of the bag
I hope your piggies enjoy it 🥰

Any recommendations for best redigrass supplier?

I usually buy it from Amazon - they have a quick turn over so you now it’s fresh
There is always a bit of dust in the bottom of the bag 😢
