Grass?

My dad mowed the lawn today and where he has gone over it there is a trail of grass that has been cut but hasn't been taken in (so it's pretty much slightly dried grass laying on the floor now). It's our own lawn so I know exactly what's gone on it- can the piggies still eat it? I naturally would assume so but a lot of websites seem to say they can't have grass cuttings and I wondered if it's because of the chemicals/ whatever else that may be on the lawn mower.

And on another note what types of wood can piggies have and not have? My neighbor cut some big branches off his tree a couple of months ago and they haven't been touched since so I was thinking about possibly carving something for the piggies. No idea what type of tree it is- shall have to ask someone but it would obviously be cleaned before being given to them.

it's something to do with the grass cuttings fermenting and causing the pigs to bloat or something like that. i'm sure someone will correct me

It's to do with the sugars that are released when the grass is cut (I believe!) - all I know is that they shouldn't eat it.

Ahh thank you both -that makes sense. Is it a no no to dried grass then?

With regards to cut grass, it's something you should never feed piggies, unless it's grass you've cut with a pair of scissors & hasn't had any weedkillers/pesticides/feed on it. Mown grass ferments & can cause bloat, so it's really not worth the risk.

As for wood/branches, they can have a little apple branch thoroughly scrubbed with water they enjoy gnawing on them.
