I'm creating an enclosed piggie area in the garden for the summer and there is a lavender bush there and some tiger grass (which has been cut right back but will grow rapidly to about 6 feet soon) I was going to take them out as I don't know if they're safe for the piggies to be around.
I thought it might be nice for them to have shade (along with their igloos etc) but also because the roots of the tiger grass, that I really don't want to kill, seem to go down forever and I think will probably break my back trying to get it out |):...|) Obviously i don't want babies to be hurt in anyway so they're the priority
Any suggestions gratefully received
I don't know about the tiger grass - mine love ornamental grasses, but they won't eat your lavender - too many essential oils in there!
I let my pigs run freely (if supervised) in my enclosed garden. They love pottering around the borders. There's the odd plant that gets butchered (I particularly hate it when they bite off a whole stem of my David Austin rose!), but they have never come to any harm. They also love munching on the odd dry leaf.
Plants that are not good for them seem to taste bad and are quicky left alone if there is plenty "nice" food around!
I've taken the Lavender out and re-planted it but have left the grass and put a bit of a stone base around it as I couldn't get all the membrane out after the plant grew through it.
There will be some ornamental grasses around the edges later on and I'll keep those.
Will post pics when its finished. Its approx 9ft x 6ft and will have 4 hutches in it. They'll also have access to the main lawn - I'm so excited I can't wait :a19::a19:
