So i have had to bath ditto twice in the space of a week due to a small area above his bottom that was really greasy? its around the size of a 50 pence piece and his fur was rock hard with grease it was like he had candle wax in is fur and was quite smelly. It has now gone but i can see it starting to appear again this morning.. Is this what they call a Boars grease spot? what causes this and is it normal? Thankyou in advance xoxo
 
That's the grease gland yes, altho I'm not experienced with it as my rex's have never had it! I kno they do need baths for it but I didn't think quite so often.. Hopefully someone with more experience of it will answer x
 
Use a blob of swarfega on the grease gland, massage in and leave for a minute before rinsing out and shampooing if needed :)
 
Yep I use Swarfega too :) I bought it off Ebay. A 250g pot will last me forever. I tend to wash McMac once a month as that is usually when it starts to build up. But some boars may need more regular washing
 
swarfega is billiant for cutting through the grease, they even sell it in the pound shop so it's cheap as chips too (cheaper actually - bag of chips round here is at least £1.40 these days!)

Some people refuse to use it, saying it's abrhasive, but that's far from the truth.
The original green gel is kinder to the skin (i find) than the alternatives (fairy liquid, for example)

Just massage a blob onto the area for around 5-10 minutes depending on how bad it is, then rinse off, use a little piggy shampoo to follow if you like :)

If you're careful enough too, you can just give bum baths without having to wash your entire piggy
 
Can you see the grease glands? As when I'm moving the greasy patch of fur away so i can see the skin and there like two skin coloured fleshy lumps about the size of a 5p if not smaller i had a scratch and feel at it and ditto didnt flinch or moan and just laid there.. So it doesnt hurt him it doesnt look sore or infected but felt greasy like the surrounding fur. Can you usually see the grease glands? Is this what I'm seeing ?
