Hi, I'm a new member to the forum and fairly new to guinea pigs as well. I have had Charlie and Daisy for nearly a year now, they are the first piggies Ive ever had and they came from a Rescue where I boarded my rabbits when on holiday. Charlie has always had very greasy fur and its quite coarse, unlike Daisy's whose is quite soft. They do have baths every now and again but Charlies fur always seems to go back to being really greasy after a few days. Is this normal?, he almost seems to have dandruff though I'm pretty sure he doesnt have any other underlying skin complaint, he just doesnt have the soft silky fur that other piggies seem to have! Should I bath him more often?

Greasy hair accompanied with dandruff is indicative of a mite infestation. The only treatment for this is Ivermectin from the vet. This is now available in topical form so no need for painful injections.

Too much bathing can actually cause greasy hair and dry skin.I only bath my pigs when necessary.
