I checked the piggy shopping list and (fresh) green beans are on it. For some reason when I got home and put some in the food bowl, after removing the bean part (afraid of choking) I typed in "green beans guinea pig" into Google and it seems like no one knows if they're OK for pigs or not. Some sites even used the word "poisonous" so I leapt back into her room and snatched the beans out before she got to them until I could check with you all and see if anyone knew anything...

yay! lol

okay great! I am thrilled to hear that! :(|)

do you all give them the bean part too? or is there anything special I need to do to the bean?

i give them all of it- some of them only eat the stalk and then go back to the rest later :))

All of mine love them and have them quite often. They are really good for coaxing a shy piggy to eat from your hand too, as they don't have to come right up to the bars of the cage to get them. x

i tried cyril on them a while ago and he doesnt like them! x

Mine love them too which is useful as i grown them and over the summer we get overrun with them. They also enjoy eating the leaves from the plants.

I have brought some for my piggies before but they didn't really touch them. All piggies are different

mine get beans about 4 times a week one day after the other to use up the bag before they go off! they have a few days of sulking (george in particular as he loves them) and then they get dead excited when I buy them again. All I do with them is if they are not trimmed ones is cut (or snap if i'm feeling lazy and in a rush) the ends off. I don't even bother trimming the ones that come already trimmed!
