Are green beans poisonous, I'm having to put my piglets on a new diet now...and trying to get more info...i heard once they were poisonous, from another site i hear they arent...?

well i've fed them to my piggies for over a year and no ill effects so i would say they are a hit and perfectly safe :)

mine don't like them - but I offered Jeff some the other day and he went crazy over them - and he's not dead yet... :(|)

Runner beans that have the bean growing inside them, I have heard that they are poisonous, the beans themselves are, not sure about the pod.

All mine love the "french beans" (or pencil beans). Stupidly I used to trim them, chef like, for the piggies, but now just snap in half and the stalk is enjoyed too.

Mine will not touch mangetout, even sliced, but will eat sugar snaps sliced.

Runner beans I strip with the peeler and leave out the beans. They love the outside. Not that I've heard the beans themselves are poison, they just don't eat them.

Sometimes you have to trust your piggies instincts.

But mine are all perfectly OK.

Do not feed any dried beans and that includes the pods left on the plant too long (if you grow your own) :)

Apparentley they are ok, the runner bean beans to humans so long as they are cooked. Not going to risk it with my guineas, but would try pods, with beans removed.
