Just read on another website (not a guinea pig site) that GPs should not be given any green stuff (assuming that means veg) until they are around 6 months old.
Is this true? Never heard of that before.
I assumed that baby GPs could eat pretty much what adult pigs can eat, right from birth, the only difference being that they need more calcium in the first 6 months, than they do as adults.

Nope that's not true, they need vitamin C always. I don't know who would say that? You just have to introduce different things slowly is all but they definitely need veg! :)

So glad you have said this I was getting a bit worried for a min. If it were true I'm not sure how I would be able to stop them having veg, they would squeak the house down for their lettuce!

You would have a riot on your hands! :))

I know, some of the advice out there is really terrible (don't mean to sound judgey or patronising) but it really is. And don't get me started on those YouTube videos!

Oh god YouTube videos make me want to die! Such utter rubbish and people listen to it! :yikes:

I remember being soooo overwhelmed by all the conflicting information on the internet until I found this friendly forum although I am still so confused about lettuce, some feed every day and some say once or twice a week or occasionally. Lettuce is the bain of my existence lol.

I know its so difficult to get good info (apart from this forum and a couple of other good forums) even RSPCA and pet shops don't seem to always agree on the info given out.

I get the evil eye if I present their breakfast veg and it doesn't contain lettuce. :D

I do agree though I'm always questioning whether or not I'm doing the right thing. Stresses me out sometimes
