Lots of love to Gregory x x

Another little update on Gregory. He is still battling on. He is not well yet but he is stronger and the abscesses do appear to have gone. We have finished the marbocyl antibiotic course a couple of days ago (much to my relief and Gregory's as the injections were stressful). He is still on metacam.
He has lost 250g+ over this illness period(argh) so we have a lot of work to do to build him up now - the best choice at the moment seems to be some recovery food mixed with warm water and oats to make a green porridge which he eats off a spoon. also fresh grass.
I believe that there is probably an underlying problem - jaw/teeth which is probably going to come back with a vengence at some point but for now, he is having some extra weeks with his friend Barney which is a good thing. Thanks for the good thoughts whilst he was very ill - the vet had said that he thought he would not make it a couple of weeks ago so it shows you how threatening abscesses can be but also good lad Gregory for fighting back. xx

Bless little Gregory with Fred the abscess took along time to clear despite destroying the bone, he's still doing very well his three incisor's and so far he's abscess free I hope the same for your boy. x

Sad Update - Terribly sad to report that I had to let Gregory go this afternoon. After some calm weeks over the summer, the dental abscesses returned over the last few days with a vengeance and his weight was dropping once more. After talking to the vet about options which were all quite grim, I felt it was time to let him go. He was struggling to eat well and the abscess infection was giving him bouts of high temperature but then he had more cheerful patches in between. It was a hard decision. It was likely that the infection was now deep down in his jaw. We have battled with injections, surgery, abscess draining and lots of vet visits and it seemed too much to put him through more procedures.

Thanks to furry friends / Debbie for all your dental abscess advice a few weeks ago - i know you liked Gregory when you met him!

He had a peaceful afternoon grazing with Barney, ate Basil leaves on the way to the vet and then went to sleep in my arms. just about now was when I would usually be making his 'green porridge' supper and he has left such a hole in our family. Goodnight gentle Gregory -time to rest.

I'm really sorry to hear that Gregory didn't make it. You did all you possibly could & sometimes no matter what you do, it comes to a sad ending. R.I.P. Gregory

I am so sorry, you did everything you could for your little boy. Huge hugs to you. X

Sleep well little one
