Aw, that is so nice. Definitely something for me to consider.

One thing I would say to all those burying pets in the garden - please ensure that they are buried deep. I work in a Housing Association and I once had a tenant on the phone to report that her dog was running about the garden with the leg of a former tenant's dog that had been buried in the garden in its mouth - it hadn't been buried very deep and the current dog had found it. It was funny at the time when she was telling me!

there are actually regulations in place aren't there. they must be buried to a certain depth and a certain distance away from any waterworks pipes. Can't remember exact distances though.

What "container" did the £34 include (if you don't mind me asking)

I asked for a scatter pouch , this is a small soft wicker (type) pouch wrapped in a ribbon with a little flower on the front. I don't have any engraving on any of mine as I prefer to write something for each of them myself. :)

Here is my outside piggy pot :)

Bless, he was called Lennie! My boar is Lenny! I love the sign, where/how did you get it and what is it made of?

Aww Fi thats lovely. It only seems like yesterday that you lost him! :(

It is made of granite an is small-about 4 x 2.5 inches. I got it made to my requirements from a seller on ebay. There are many different types of pet memorials and grave markers on ebay!

I know Louise, time goes too quickly, I still miss him so much :(

There are some lovely memorials mentioned/shown here. I finally got round to sorting the pics of mine, following on from my earlier post.

Keepsake Boxes

The boxes hold their ashes and a few bits and pieces. Charlie had his syringes and some newspaper he tore up, and his ashes are wrapped in a piece of fleece bought especially for him (to make him seem more macho, in a cage of three women!).
Lottie's ashes are wrapped in a cut off from my fleecy dressing gown, which she snuggled in so much over her last few days.

Frames

My mum writes piggie poems to go with her paintings, and she made this frame up for me when Charlie passed, with a beautiful poem. Lottie also has her own frame, with her own poem.

I fortuantly haven't lost any piggies yet (i've only been an owner since saturday) but i have lost cats and hamsters and i always bury them, always have, alway will. The only problem is if i'm really attached to an animal and lose it i'm going to be reluctant to move and leave the pet.
When my dog passes i'm thinking of getting her cremated so i can keep her with me

We lost 2 guinea pigs within 24 hours of each other (mother and daughter) we had them cremated together and their ashes are in a little wooden casket with a plaque on the top, we have this in our bedroom on one of the wooden beams, i blow them a kiss and tell them i love and miss them before go to sleep every night. I will get all future pets cremated and keep the caskets with us where ever we go.

Up until 5 years ago I still lived with my parents (I'm 28) so everyone was buried in the garden, now I have my own house but a gravelled garden. I've had two pigs cremated at a small pet cemetery and crematorium but when I lost peanut last feb I decided I might end up with a lot of caskets over the years so we buried peanut at my parents, now after seeing this I think I might do piggy pots :)

I let the vets cremate Skittles in a mass cremation. I don't know how long I will be living in this flat and the garden is shared by everyone and there some kids that play in it. To do a private cremation would have cost too much. When my dog was pts we had her creamed and kept the ashes, I brought them with me when I moved here.

I personally bury mine in the garden, some people have cremations whilst others bury them in a pot & plant a flower, befitting the piggy on top, this way whenever you move you can take your piggy with you.
It really is down to the individual person what they do.

I havn't lost any piggies yet but I really do like the thought of having them in a pretty plant pot, its a really lovely idea. I know I won't always be living with my parents and they won't always be living in our house to burry them in the garden somewhere.

When we lost Pepper we buried him in the garden. We also bought a beautiful lavendar plant and we planted it over his graveto remind us of him. I also made our piggies a dreamcatcher.

Fortunately i've never lost a piggy, but my hamsters from when i was young have been buried in the garden under all our rose bushes along the back.
My last hammy is actually in a gaviscon box under the white rose bush with a little rock on top.
I really like the idea of piggy pots too.

My dad made a coffin out of steal tubing and screwed caps on the end and engraved my hamsters name into the tubing. He made it at work after I called to tell him my hamster died. (he was attached to him and still gets razzed at work for crying over it). We all went out as a family and buried him in the side yard in the garden, planted a rose bush over him.

All the other family pets are buried at my sister house. she has a mini pet graveyard going on. (for some reason her animals like to commit suicide, couple cats sleeping on tires, a dog who happily wagged itself off a 6 foot wall it liked to sleep on in front of my young niece, broke her neck, coyotes ect...
She is totally freaked out at the family and why we keep bringing our dead animals to her house. It is about a mile back in the woods and secluded.

I tend to get my special pigs cremated and put in a box...
Any pigs that pass away in rescue are (I know some people don't like the sound of this) but they are cremated at the vets and their ashes are scattered with that months cremations...
I used to do piggy pots... But once in my old house... The rats dug up several pigs all in different states of decomposition... It was awful... :)>>>
So since then I've stuck to cremation...
But hopefully you have many years before you have to think about this..
