what do you give your piggies to help grind there teeth down? mine did have a mineral stone but didnt last long it went soggy after a couple of weeks, there not keen on carrots any ideas what i can give them?

Basil had a wooden cottage which he not only slept in, but chewed on (see in his picture here). And the girls had hayballs - ate hay from, slept in ... and chewed on. They had corn on the cob too, which I think helped. And always plenty of good quality hay. And I always had their teeth checked regularly, and they never had any problems.

Hay, Grass, Willow Balls and Fiddle sticks will do the trick.
Mineral Stones are no good in my view

I use good quality stong hay and works for us. I do have one pig who I think will have a problem with his peggys as they do grow quite long so I provide willow sticks for him and his cage mate.

Mineral stones aren't advised just hay, willow sticks/balls or something woody to chomp on. :)

I have always just used good quality hay, carrots, corn on the cob, thick cardboard tubes and treats that you hang on the hutch door.

Piggies can be very selective with the treats that they eat, so don't buy in bulk just in case.

mine are having the same problem with soggy mineral stones...you can buy in the petshop wood chew block things lol mine love them. x

The best thing to help keep piggies teeth down is hay, dry food and green veg (but not too much). Leafy green veg takes a while for them to chew up. I personally wouldn't use the mineral stones as piggies do not need them. As long as they get their dry mix, plenty of fruit and veg, and hay they should get everything that they need.

Mine love chewing on apple tree branches. They love stripping them.:)) I also give them the pets at home timothy hay with herbs because it's quite coarse. They get loads of good hay and veggies too.:)

I forgot about apple tree branches Nemo. My rabbits and piggies have enjoyed chewing at them and flinging them around :))

Yes I put one in with Ginger last week in the hope it would stop him eating his brand new hutch.:)) He had it stripped within a day.:)
