Gritty pee/ squeaking while peeing

I’m sorry I keep making so many threads on this.... I am just very worried and confused!
Rexy has been squeaking while peeing on and off for a while, so we took her to the vet, who gave her a weeks of antibiotics. But then we went to a better vet... who couldn’t feel any stones and said utis can take a while to clear. So she is on another 10 days on antibiotics. But today is her 9th dose altogether... and I’ve seen no/very little improvement. I’ve just seen her pee, she was squeaking in pain while she did it but it was a normal dark yellow.... but there was something left behind... it was a tiny brownish spot.... and at first I thought she could’ve passed a very small stone, but I picked it up and it was like sand, quite gritty. Is this not a uti..... could it be a bladder stone?!

She is such a happy pig otherwise, drinking lots and coming up to see me for food. I love her so much, and it really breaks my heart to see her in pain

It will be calcium deposits. As it's gritty in texture it sounds like she's got sludge in her bladder. An xray will determine if it's a stone.

The vet can do a bladder flush which will try to push through the sludge.

I'd recommend giving her more floor time as running around can help keep it from forming into a stone. And try to give her more water as that can flush it through.

Read up of the diet pages of the forum as it would be worth adjusting her diet to reduce calcium intake.

Thanks for the advice... she is currently on a 10 day course of antibiotics for a uti, she is due for a check up in just over a week. Should I carry on with the course of the antibiotics or take her in for an X-ray sooner before her check up? Unfortunately my mum isn’t too happy with spending lots at the vet...

@Wizzy I'd give the vet a ring to see what they want to do. Some would want her in for an xray but others may want to finish the antibiotics course first.

If your mum doesn't want to spend a lot at the vet it would be better to speak the vet first rather than make an appointment and the vet not do anything.

Ask the vet for quotes too on the cost of an xray and a bladder flush. Then your mum can prepare for the cost.
