What type of brushes do you use ?

Ive got a peruvian and alpaca, both hate being brushed, ive tried a flee like comb and one of those little needle types.

any suggestions on something that will get through the hair.

thanks

I use this. I have two merinos, (like alpaca but only one crest on head) and this does fine!

I really only use the dual sided comb and sometimes the paddle but never the nylon brush.

I had to do my new piggy last night and he had really notty curls, and the dual sided comb did fine.

I think the paddle and nylon one isnt that great for ours as they have thick fur so cant get all the way though it!

I use a very wide comb (the sort that have about 12 teeth). I don't know what the combs with 5-6 teeth would be like - I think they're used for Afro type hairstyles.

A very narrow flea type comb will just tear the hair out (esp. on an Alpaca) and upset the pig.

I have a peruvian, and I use the small paddle one from pets at home, and I have a tailed comb I got from wilko's for 19p. I only use the come after the brush to finish her off.

I have quite mad hair myself and I think it has taught me a lot about not pulling hair when you are brushing it!:))

thanks

do the paddle brushes your referring to have plastic or pin/metal heads?

thanks again

Mine have very thin metal combs with plastic bobbles at the end.

I really do think though that the wide metal combs are best from experience with piggies like yours.

its whatever is best for individuals i suppose.
