I've got one and I only use it on my wire-coated and thick-coated dogs. It's too harsh for my silky dog and I would imagine too rough for a guinea pig. I wouldn't use it on mine.

I think they have different ones designed for different animals, the one above is specifically for small animals. I can imagine the dog one would be a bit harsh TBH rolleyes

I have one for my cat, and it's definitely NOT going to be gentle enough for a guinea pig in my opinion. It sort of thins the fur out, like a razor cut on humans.

We've got for my jack russell, it's great - pulls out the undercoat which is the bit that molts everywhere! Never used one on my piggies though, I just go for a slicker brush with them :)

My mistake, I didn't click on the link. The one on the link may be ok, but the furminator that I have for my cat would be far too harsh. This one might be ok after all it is made for small animals.

It does look a bit brutal for piggies ")
One of my two Aby's sheds a lot of his hair, I only picked him up yesterday for a cuddle and to trim his nails and was covered :(|)
Not much we can do really as all short haired breeds moult - hardly any from my two long haired boys though :))
Think just a good brush is the better option - the teeth look really fine on that brush/comb and I'd be scared of hurting a piggy :...

I wasn't aware it actually thins the coat! Definitely not for piggies then :(

I have tried soft (baby) brush) & a fine toothed comb, but still she moults! I may result to a sticky lint roller all over her instead :))

The furminator doesn't cut or thin the coat! *It rakes the loose hair from deep down, then you press a button to pop off the clump that builds up on the comb. *I was given one when the small animal version first came out, but as all my piggies are smooth coated it didn't have much effect. *

I think people may be confusing it with a stripping comb*http://www.mikkipet.com/?p=3200 which is not the same thing!

Cut out the middle man, just hoover your piggy instead of the floor! :)) (Before anyone panics, I am joking and certainly don't hoover my pigs although I did have a dog who liked being hoovered).

I don't think you'll win this battle, whatever brush you buy, I think you'll just have to put up with her being a hairy pig. :)

:)) Heh... that's fantastic, our old spaniel would have loved it but he was annoying enough as it was, if you got the hoover out he would come and lay in front of you stopping you from actually doing any hoovering. rolleyes

Haha! He sounds amazing! :))

Hehe even her toes are hairy! I've never had a piggy that drops so much hair before, after cuddling her I'm smothered! I've resorted to wearing an apron lol :))

Actually I have one of those mini vacs for the puter keyboard, I must admit it's tempting lol :(|)

I used to use fuminators in the first dog groomers i worked at.

It you look at the teeth it is like a blade. They seem to have the same affect as a stripping knife.

I wouldn't use one of these on my piggies (and am not too keen on using them on dogs either). Nothing quite an old fashioned comb :)
