Woohoo :D I'm getting my new girlys in 2 weeks! ( thanks Deb ((((hugs))))  :-* :-* :-* ) Cant wait, 2 more furbabies to spoil :)

Anyway getting back to the point LOL, Candy (Candyfloss) is a sheltie, so any of you that have long haired piggys can you tell me the best things for me to buy for grooming, ie: your experiences of different brush types etc, and hints and tips on keeping my new girl well groomed and beautiful :D

And Minnie is an adorable looking Abby :-* :D

Here they are, aren't they just stunning :D

Posh N Go from Gorgeous Guineas, it really conditions the hair. And a trim in the trouser area every month at bath time and you'll be fine. Hairdressing scissors available from Superdrug. Mine are trimmed short underneath and left long on top. :)

Gosh, they're beautiful! I'm new to pigs anyway so am still learning how to groom my girls.... I start with a brush then go on to a comb, just from P@H, but both work well. I always groom with scissors around as they hate any tugging and so I just cut out any knots, no matter how often I brush them they still get knots. Around their bum needs trimming too to stop it getting too wet and dirty.

I haven't bathed them yet, plucking up the courage still ;D

Exactly what I do with mine.

I do use a wide toothed comb every other day to get the bits of hay out! Mine burrow all the time!

Posh n Go.. right. *goes off to Gorgeous Guineas to buy some* So a human wide tooth comb will be ok?

anyone got any ideas?

LOL I know the person who put them on the rehoming site, actaully she lives about half an hour away from me and incidently where i had one of my girls from

Small piggy world! Hey maybe we will have related piggys :D Welcome to the family ;D

Bev, I have a soft brush for grooming.

Also do cut round the bloomers so they don't get too dirty ::) Rocky and I have an ongoing battle with this ::)

They are beautiful Bev.
I'm really looking forward to our adventure. We'll be going up with 3 piggies and coming home with 6. Look out for us on "Police Camera Action" we'll be stopped cos we'll be overloaded ;D

I had real problems with my Sheltie X before I started using a Gorgeous Guineas shampoo. She used to get dread locks on her inner thigh (I need to do my bikini line soon before I get these! ;D) and I think they pulled her skin a bit. They were really hard to find without using a comb - & the only way to find them is when the comb pulls :(.

I got a GG shampoo which isn't even a specific conditioning one and I have had no probs since. I haven''t done loads of bathing this winter & she's stayed fine. I find the best way to trim them is to get a friend to have them sit the pig on one knee (helps if the friend had a good chunky knee) with the pigs butt facing you. I get the hair between all my fingers as if I was putting my hand over the pigs bum with my fingers facing up. Keep your palm close to the pigs body & trim the hair that is sticking out from the back of your fingers - keeping quite close to your hand. Do this a couple of times to get any stray long hairs.

That's me bev ;D always happy to help. I knew my knees would come in useful one day. They weren't built like that for nothing ;D

Can I borrow you then please - I only have nasty knobbly knee helpers round here!

If I'm ever in your neck of the woods me and my chunky knees will be glad to help out. You are right though. I always balance G&M on my knees. They fit perfectly. ;D

I use a rake comb for the Texels but have never needed it for the Shelties. I do have some soft bristle brushes too :)

Aww thank you :) you're a good friend ;) you and your knees!

For an alpaca would you use Posh n Go or a seperate shampoo and conditioner?

Took them to the vets last night and he gave them an antibiotic jab, an anti inflammatory jab and some fluid, and I got them some recovery and some bio lapis, today they seem to have perked up a bit, they are more interested in their food and slightly more active. They have to go back on Friday to have their stitches out and he'll give them another check over then. :)

Thats good news then hope they continue to improve !

One lo of Sammys stitches has already fallen out the other is still there he looks fine so hopefully he can go back outside on Friday i think hes misising his buddies !

Aww that's good! don't think they are missing each other though. I had to use one carrier to take them as the other was in the boot and I couldn't get it... long story, don't ask LOL

Anyway we were in the consulting room and I could hear this noise and I thought what's that? then I realised what it was... it was teeth chattering, I jumped up and looked in the box and there they were up on their hind legs ready to kill each other :-\ so yup, I definately think i've done the right thing getting them done!

Bless !

worse than kids !

well i was thinking oh i can have all 6 together till i though doh no u cant cos the boys will sill fight ! so will have to have a think of which girly to which boyey ! and how i decide i have no idea !
